Fence materials guide
Post depth
Set posts 1/3 of their length in the ground. A 6-ft fence post should be 8–9 ft total — 2–3 ft in the ground. Use 2 bags of 50 lb concrete per post.
Post spacing
Standard: 8 ft on-center for most privacy fences. Vinyl fences often use 6 ft. Gate posts should be within 12 ft of each other.
